Montreal police are investigating after two armoured truck guards were attacked and robbed Monday night in the Parc-Extension neighbourhood.

Police say the heist happened around 11 p.m. outside a bank on Jean-Talon Street, near Querbes Avenue, as the employees moved bags of money into the truck.

The guards were outside the vehicle when they were approached by two suspects who pepper-sprayed them and took off with an unknown amount of money.

One suspect fired a gunshot, but it did not hit anyone. The agents were not injured beyond the pepper spray.

The suspects fled on foot and police will be checking surveillance footage taken in the area as part of the investigation.

So far, police have made no arrests.
