UPDATE: We have a full Do Crew for this Saturday's event with A Horse Tale. Stay tuned to CBC Radio Daybreak and check in with the Do Crew page regularly for news about our June event. Thanks to all the Montrealers who threw their hat in the ring for this volunteer activity.

A Horse Tale is a non-profit animal rescue group that houses and cares for nine horses, one donkey and two goats. Three times a day, the volunteers take care of feeding, mucking and grooming the animals. There are about 40 volunteers who help keep A Horse Tale moving along daily and the group is 100 per cent volunteer run.

To date we have helped six Old Montreal caleche horses and are expecting a seventh once we move.  The biggest of those horses (Big Jim) is so tall that a 5-6" person can stand under his chin.- - Darren Mayoff, Director of fundraising and sponsorship at A Horse Tale

In May the group will be moving the animals into a new barn. Before they can do that, they need to give it a good clean and fix it up a little.
The CBC Montreal Do Crew will be helping out with that next Saturday May 9. If you're interested in volunteering, here is what you need to know:

WHEN: Saturday May 9 from 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
WHO: 10 volunteers
WHAT: general clean-up in the new barn, including sweeping/dusting of the entire barn (roof/rafters/cob webs/etc..) as well as raking and loading hay into wheel barrows.
WHERE: 12 Chemin Murphy, Vaudreuil-Dorion, Que. J7V 8P2

Special note: This is very dusty work which may not be ideal for those who suffer from allergies or asthma.
