CBC Montreal wins 5 RTDNA awards
Newsroom won for best website and for stories in television and radio
CBC Montreal took home five RTDNA awards at a ceremony Saturday at Humber College in Toronto.
The newsroom was up against competitors from across Ontario and Quebec.
CBC Montreal won the in-depth/investigative digital category for its coverage of the 25th anniversary of the Polytechnique Shooting.
Reporters Morgan Dunlop and Tanya Birkbeck, along with host Debra Arbec, won the Sam Ross Award for editorial/commentary in television for speaking out about a vulgar prank known as "FHRTIP."
Daybreak won the Sam Ross award in the radio category for host Mike Finnerty's interview with a former Hasidic community member who is suing the Quebec government.
In the radio sports category, reporter Andie Bennett won for her story about a strength and conditioning coach who runs a boxing class for people with Parkinson's.
In the digital media category, CBC Montreal also won for its overall website.
The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) awards recognize excellence in Canadian journalism.
