Reimagining Borders: Join CBC's Nahlah Ayed at free public talk

Join us on Tuesday, March 18 for "Reimagining Borders," a conversation exploring the challenges governments face in managing borders in a way that responds to economic, political and humanitarian concerns.

Hosted by the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada (MISC), the free public talk is the second event in the series Conversations: sponsored by Charles Bronfman.

Nahlah Ayed, host of CBC's IDEAS, will moderate the discussion, which takes place at 7 p.m., at the Centre Mont-Royal (2200 Mansfield St., Montreal).

Panelists include:

  • Peter Altmaier, former member of the German government and parliament, co-ordinator of Germany's response to the 2015 refugee crisis.
  • Julián Castro, CEO, Latino Community Foundation - the US's largest Latino-serving foundation, former mayor of San Antonio, Texas, and author of An Unlikely Journey: Waking Up from My American Dream. 
  • Ayelet Shachar, professor of law, political science & global affairs, University of Toronto, and author of The Shifting Border and The Birthright Lottery: Citizenship and Global Inequality. 

The conversation will be produced by IDEAS and recorded for future broadcast on the show.
