Quebec provincial police say the deaths of a man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s who were found in a home in the Eastern Townships Friday evening appear to be a a case of a murder-suicide.
Police with the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) responded to a 911 call about a person in distress at a home in Dunham at about 5:15 p.m. Friday.
When police arrived at the home on Lasnier Street, they found the man and the woman seriously injured. The pair were confirmed dead at the scene.
The victims are 59-year-old Patrizia Rao and 62-year-old Frédéric-Lynn Blair from Dunham.
On Saturday, SQ spokesperson Stéphane Tremblay said investigators would be looking at all possible scenarios, including a murder.
The SQ issued a news release Saturday evening, saying the investigation has led them to believe the deaths were a case of a murder followed by a suicide.
"An autopsy will be carried out on the bodies of the two victims in order to officially rule on the causes and circumstances of the deaths," the release reads.
