Fire destroys Hells Angels bunker northeast of Montreal

A large fire has gutted a Hells Angels gang bunker in a community about 90 kilometres northeast of Montreal.

A large fire has gutted a Hells Angels gang bunker in a community about 90 kilometres northeast of Montreal.

The blaze broke out Saturday around 9:30 p.m. in Sorel-Tracy, police said.

It was one of three fires reported in the city overnight. In the early evening, a fire started in a mixed commercial and residential building. Two hours later, emergency crews were called to the blaze at the Hells Angels bunker.

Around 1 a.m. on Sunday, a garage was set on fire, police said. All the fires are considered suspicious, but Quebec provincial police spokeswoman Joyce Kemp said it's too early to confirm whether the three are linked.

No injuries were reported in any of the fires.

There are reports from witnesses that a vehicle rammed into the bunker, a two-storey garage-style building, just before the blaze began. Police later confirmed a truck was found in the wreckage.

Police said it's unlikely they'll be able to start their investigation before Monday because the ruins of the building were still smouldering.

They also said they're investigating whether there are connections between the Hells Angels bunker fire and an incident last week.

Provincial police in the Gaspé community of Mont-Joli intercepted a vehicle laden with 980 kilograms of TNT, allegedly stolen from a construction quarry.

In the same week, police searched an apartment in downtown Montreal where they found 200 kilograms of explosives. Police believe the three men arrested in connection with the raid have ties to biker gangs.
