From idea to company: Montreal company Gymbirds shows us how
How do you go from idea to successfully company? A Montreal entrepreneur shows us the steps
A year ago, Montreal start-up Gymbirds was a fledgling company that was ready to take off.
The company's founder, Michael Moszberg, came up with the idea when he was studying abroad.
Moszberg was looking for a gym, but didn’t want to commit to a membership. He simply wanted to pay for each visit, at a nearby gym that was most convenient at the time.
After coming back to Montreal and doing some research, he realized that a lot of people felt the same way.
Moszberg first started working on Gymbirds with his partner Damien Galan at a Google start-up event in February 2014. Then they pitched the idea at McGill’s Dobson Cup, which won them a $10,000 investment. That's how thye built their first mobile application.
Last summer, Gymbirds made another splash - this time at International Startup Fest by winning the CBC Media Pitch.
The company has recently started working with an investor and start-up accelerator.
Moszberg shows us the steps the company took to get where it is today:
