Girl victim of vicious dog attack in Brossard

An eight-year old girl suffered serious injuries after she was attacked by a dog in a park in Brossard on Sunday.

The girl was with her mother at Parc Marquise when the dog attacked her just before 3 p.m., Longueuil police said.

She was badly hurt on the head, neck, and hands. Paramedics took her to hospital where she was treated. Her life is not in danger, police say.

Police had trouble getting the dog's owner to surrender the animal for testing, but eventually the owner complied, said Const. Tommy Lacroix of Longueuil police.

Witnesses interviewed by officers said the dog looked like a pit bull, Lacroix said. However, he added police do not confirm the breed in these kinds of situations.
