Juripop offers free legal advice for sex assault victims Friday, Saturday
Legal aid clinic will hold free sessions in Montreal
Legal aid clinic Juripop is inviting victims of sexual assault or misconduct to meet with lawyers for free legal information and advice.
The clinics will be held at 6472 St-Laurent Boulevard, in the CAVAC (Crime Victims Compensation) offices, on:
- Friday Oct. 27 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Saturday Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The free one-on-one sessions with a lawyer are being offered in light of the #MeToo movement and the recent allegations of sexual assault to emerge in Quebec.
Over the last week, alleged victims of media personality and producer Éric Salvail and Just For Laughs founder and president Gilbert Rozon have come forward.
- After high-profile sexual assault allegations, calls flood police and frontline centres
- Quebec TV personality Julie Snyder files sexual assault complaint against Just for Laughs founder
Juripop says there will be 10 lawyers on hand to meet confidentially with people who say they have been assaulted or harassed.
There will also be a panel to explain the process of filing a sexual harassment or sexual assault complaint.
For people who do not reside in Montreal or cannot make it to the clinic, Juripop will have a telephone hotline in service: 1-888-765-0508.
