A 32-year-old man was shot and killed in Longueuil overnight between Friday and Saturday after an apparent robbery attempt.

The altercation happened outside a bank on Roland-Thérrien Boulevard around 1:30 a.m. ET Saturday.

“There were two money transporters that were in the ATM section of the TD bank, and they were bringing out the bags of money to their truck. Suddenly a 32-year-old man attacked them physically and during the altercation a shot was fired and the suspect was injured,” said Constable Marc David of Longueuil police.

David said the man was pronounced dead in hospital about an hour later.

The two security guards are being treated for nervous shock.

Police are searching for a weapon that could have belonged to the suspect and are also speaking to more than a dozen witnesses who were inside a Tim Hortons next to the bank.
