Two people were hurt when a transport truck crashed into a McDonald's restaurant in Saint-Leonard overnight.

According to Montreal police Const. Jean-Pierre Brabant, the truck was heading east on the Highway 40 service road just after midnight when the driver lost control and drove into the side of the McDonald's near Lacordaire Boulevard.

Brabant said it appears the driver, a 69-year-old man, suffered a health problem before veering off the road.

The driver's legs are broken. A 35-year-old man inside the restaurant sustained an ankle injury. Both were taken to hospital for treatment.

Brabant said there was considerable damage to the restaurant.
