Mont-Saint-Hilaire woman victim of homicide, police say

Police in Mont-Saint-Hilaire have detained a man as an "important witness" after police were called to a home on Forest Street. A woman in her 20s was rushed to hospital, where she was declared dead.

A woman in her 20s in Mont-Saint-Hilaire has been declared dead after being rushed to hospital early Wednesday afternoon.

Police are investigating the incident as a homicide.

The Richelieu-Saint-Laurent intermunicipal police service responded to a call at a Forest Street address in Mont-Saint-Hilaire at 12:30 p.m. where they found the woman, seriously injured.

Yanic Parent, chief inspector for the Richelieu-Saint-Laurent police, told CBC that there were "marks of violence" found on the victim's body.

Police say a man also in his 20s was detained as "an important witness."

Mont-Saint-Hilaire is 35 kilometres east of Montreal.
