Parents and students are joining hands this morning to protest against compressions in funding in Quebec's public education system.

The protest is taking place outside of several schools across Montreal today.

The pressure tactic follows weeks of rotating strikes by public sector workers, health-care professionals and teachers in wake of stalled negotiations with the Quebec government.

Yesterday, Quebec struck a tentative deal over working conditions with a labour federation that represents thousands of public sector employees. It did not include a collective agreement

The Common front, a coalition of public sector unions that represents over 400,000 workers, is set to hold a province-wide protest on Dec. 9 if an agreement is not reached.
