Here's what you need to know about Montreal's Royalmount mall
How do I get there? Is there parking? Is it free?
Royalmount's first phase is open — it includes a shopping mall featuring luxury brands, many of which are opening their first-ever storefronts in Quebec.
Some of the stores, including many of the mall's luxurious outlets like Rolex, Balenciaga, Gucci and Tiffany and Co., are only set to open their doors later this year. On opening day, the mall's owners expect about 50 per cent of the storefronts to be open.
Here are some answers to questions you may have about the mall:
When does it open?
Thursday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m.
How do I get there?
Take the Metro to De la Savane station and walk across the footbridge, which is located right at the exit of the station.
Or drive, but be wary of traffic. The mall is located at the intersection of Highway 40 and the Decarie Expressway, on Royalmount Street.
Where do I park?
There are 4,000 above- and below-ground parking spots on the property.
Does it cost money to park?
Yes, but the first half hour is free. If you download Royalmount's parking application, the second half hour is also free, but after that, it costs $2.50 per half hour.
What is there to do?
Royalmount is, at this stage, a mall. There are stores to shop in and a food hall called Fou Fou, home to a number of upper-scale eateries run by celebrity chefs.
There is also an outdoor "urban park" with some trees and a lawn.
And there are public art exhibits to look at, and a slide for children.
Is the aquarium open?
Not yet. Its opening date has been delayed and, on Tuesday, the developers said it may only open in 2026.
