3 months after launch, Santé Québec announces departure of VP of operations
Changes in executive team led to exit of Frédéric Abergel, corporation's president says

The vice-president of Santé Québec's operations and transformation department is leaving three months after the Crown corporation was launched.
Frédéric Abergel is the former head of the CHUM hospital in Montreal. He was nominated to the role at Santé Québec a year ago.
In a memo to staff, Santé Québec president Geneviève Biron said she is making changes to the executive team to be closer to what is happening on the ground.
The corporation's mandate is to streamline health-care services in the province.
Biron said that in the months since Dec. 1, 2024, when Santé Québec was launched, she had "made observations that bring me to want to make changes in the executive team."
"Those changes were approved by the board of directors and lead to the departure of Frédéric Abergel."
Biron will take on Abergel's functions until a successor is named.
Santé Quebec has come under fire as it works to make $1.5 billion in cuts to the delivery of health-care services.
