Montreal coach accused of sexually abusing minors, police ask others to come forward
Ryan Michael Elahie is facing 18 charges in connection with 6 alleged victims

Montreal police investigators are looking for potential victims of a coach accused of sexually abusing young boys.
Ryan Michael Elahie, 40, was arrested earlier this month and faces multiple sexual assault charges, according to police.
SPVM Constable Jean-Pierre Brabant said Elahie is facing charges related to sexual assault, sexual contact and the possession, distribution and production of child pornography. Police suspect he may have additional victims, he said.
Elahie speaks English, has curly grey and black hair, brown eyes and occasionally wears prescription glasses, police say. He is approximately five feet eight inches tall and weighs just over 220 pounds.
The suspect was involved at different high schools, day camps, community centres, organizations and sports associations as a basketball, hockey, football and powerlifting coach, police said.
"Because he was a coach, he had authority over some of his victims and from there, he was able to gain their confidence and have relations with them," said Brabant. "During some private sessions, he would commit some sexual acts."
Elahie is facing 18 charges in connection with six alleged victims between 2014 and 2025.
"During the events, we know for a fact that the victims were young boys or teenagers," said Brabant.
He encouraged victims and anyone who know them to call 514-280-2081 or 911.
"If you're a victim, come forward because our investigators are working really hard," he said. "They'll support you. They'll help you. We're not going to judge you. We're there to help you go forward with your life."
