Quebec is slated to receive 5,700 of the 25,000 refugees that will be accepted to Canada by the end of the year.
Weil says the arrival of Syrian refugees will take place with the security of Quebecers in mind, but told a news conference the province's target may not be reached by year's end.
The following cities have the resources to accommodate refugees and help them integrate into society, the ministry said. Here's how many refugees each city will receive by the end of 2015:
- Greater Montreal area (Montreal, Longueuil, Laval): 3,155
- Quebec City: 100
- Gatineau: 100
- Sherbrooke: 100
- Drummondville: 30
- Granby: 30
- Saint-Hyacinthe: 30
- Trois-Rivières: 30
- Victoriaville: 20
- Joliette: 20
- Saint-Jérôme: 20
