Director Dean DeBlois's How to Train Your Dragon 2 received an Academy Award nomination for best animated feature film. DeBlois is originally from Aylmer, Que.
Jay Baruchel, from Montreal's Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood, is the voice of the lead character in the film.
How to Train Your Dragon 2 won best animated feature film at the Golden Globes last Sunday.
Me and My Moulton, an animated short directed by Norwegian-born Montreal film director and animator Torill Kove, was also nominated.
This is Kove's third Oscar nomination.
She won the 2007 Oscar for the animated short The Danish Poet.
The National Film Board has Me and My Moulton availible online for a limited time.
The nominees for this year's Academy Awards were announced Thursday at a news conference at the Dolby Theatre in California.
The ceremony takes place on Feb. 22 will be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris.
