Woman and her granddaughter dead after Montreal apartment shooting

A woman and her granddaughter are dead after being shot in a Montreal apartment. Police say it was a double homicide.
Police received a call around 2:40 a.m. after gunshots were heard in the building on Mullins Street in the Pointe-Saint-Charles neighbourhood.
The two women, Jade Beaulieu Racette, 22, and Huguette Racette, 73, were found suffering from gunshot wounds. The older woman was pronounced dead on the scene and her granddaughter later died in hospital.
Police have cordoned off the scene and a K-9 unit has been dispatched as part of the ongoing investigation.
No arrests have been made.
The deaths mark the 37th and 38th homicides of the year in Montreal.
