A video of Codiac RCMP interrogating Devin Morningstar paints a picture of a drug-fuelled murder scene.
Morningstar, 19, is one of three people charged with first-degree murder in 18-year-old Baylee Wylie's death.
Morningstar told police he went to the the triplex on Sumac Street after his girlfriend had broken up with him a few days before. Morningstar said Marissa Shephard, Tyler Noel and Baylee Wylie were there.
Morningstar said that night, he slept with Shephard.
The next day Morningstar found out that Noel and Wylie had a sexual relationship.
He said he didn't believe Wylie until he showed him a picture as proof.
During his statement to police, Morningstar struggled at times to keep the order of events in line. He admitted the group were smoking crack in the basement.
Shephard later invited him to go upstairs to have a shower. In the video he says he was proud to be winning her affections over Noel.
Morningstar told the RCMP that Noel was "steaming mad," and "trying so hard to be this big gangster."
He said that Noel told him Wylie was "trying to start shit," by telling Shephard that he had a sexual relationship with both Noel and Morningstar.
Morningstar denied having sex with Wylie, saying it was Wylie's tactic to win over Shephard.
He said Wylie wanted the other two young men to leave, and threatened to call police.
"We both sold drugs," Morningstar admitted.
They then came up with a plan to frame Wylie.
Morningstar describes murder of Wylie
Morningstar then detailed the beating that Wylie received before his death.
He described how Wylie was bound in plastic wrap, then beaten numerous times in the basement.
According to Morningstar, they initially threatened to stab Wylie if he "[ratted] on them."
After more beatings, Morningstar said Noel told him "this kid can't leave this house."
Morningstar said both Shephard and Noel began stabbing Wylie.
"At this point the wind is out of him, he just keeps begging us to stop," said Morningstar. By then, he said, Noel and Shephard were surprised Wylie was still alive.
Morningstar then admitted on tape to stabbing Wylie. He did it after being prodded by Noel to prove his loyalty.
Morningstar said he stabbed the 18-year-old three times.
After leaving Wylie alone and bleeding in the basement, Noel found him crawling on the first floor, trying to escape.
Morningstar said Wylie managed to get his hand on the back door, when Noel began pistol-whipping Wylie.
Wylie's body was found in the living room, where Morningstar said Noel and Shephard continued to stab him.
"I remember how white he was," Morningstar told the police.
Morningstar said the violence lasted about an hour and a half in total.
After the group decided Wylie was dead, Morningstar said he doused Wylie in bleach to remove any finger prints, before Noel and Shephard set fires in the triplex.
The trial has heard Wylie had up to 200 wounds. It resumes Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
