4 men struck on sidewalk in Dieppe hit and run

Codiac Regional RCMP are seeking the public's help with a hit-and-run investigation after four pedestrians were struck by a vehicle on a sidewalk in Dieppe early Wednesday morning.

Victims, all in their 20s, taken to hospital with minor injuries

Four men in their 20s were taken to the hospital on Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle while walking on a sidewalk in Dieppe, say Codiac Regional RCMP.

The hit and run occurred along Champlain Street, between Acadie Avenue and Paul Street, shortly before 1:45 a.m., said Sgt. André Pepin.

The men, who were walking toward Moncton, were struck from behind and were unable to describe the vehicle or the driver, who fled the scene, he said.

When police arrived, two of the men were unconscious.

"So obviously we didn't get anything from them at that time and the other two, they were panicked, so we didn't get much from them."

All four suffered minor injuries, including possibly some fractures, said Pepin.

Two of the men were discharged from the hospital later Wednesday morning, while the other two were discharged in the afternoon.

"We don't have any suspects at this time," Pepin said. "We're still doing our investigation, looking at [security] videos" from businesses in the area.

Police are also requesting the public's help identifying the vehicle or driver.

"It's possible there could have been somebody around in another vehicle that could have seen something," said Pepin.
