Miramichi hosting 'premiere' bass fishing tournament
Striper Cup brings lots of activity along Miramichi River

Miramichi is hosting what's being called "Atlantic Canada premiere striped bass tournament" this weekend.
The Miramichi Striper Cup is expected to attract about 150 fishers over the two-day tournament Saturday and Sunday, said Miramichi tourism director Jeff MacTavish.
It's a catch-and-release tournament, but participants won't have to hungry.
"There will be lots of activity along Miramichi river with boats, and Ribfest going on so if you're done fishing and a little bit hungry you can enjoy some great ribs," MacTavish said.
There are three divisions: team, individual and youth. Participants weigh two fish per day, and the team with the highest total wins $5,000.
There is also a draw to win a boat, motor and trailer package valued $20,000.
Last year, 118 people participated.
