Province creates website to prevent internet child exploitation
A new website launched by the province warns parents and children about dangers found online
The provincial government is launching a new cyber safety website and videos to help prevent the exploitation of children on the internet.
The new website is designed to educate parents and children about potential threats to children online. It also lists tips to combat these threats.
In a release, Public Safety Minister Stephen Horsman said, ""Internet child exploitation is a global problem and New Brunswick is not immune to this type of crime."
The site urges parents to be involved in what their children are doing online, and monitor the things they do on the internet.
The website has been launched as part of a comprehensive Internet Child Exploitation Strategic Framework with the department of Public Safety.
In conjunction with the launch, workshops are being held in Moncton and Bathurst for teachers, social workers and police officers.
