Police have re-opened blocked section of Red Head Road

Saint John Police confirm one man and one woman are dead following a shooting incident in a home on Red Head Road Monday afternoon.

Insp. David Parks says no shots were fired at police, and the major crimes unit is now investigating.

"Uniformed patrol responded shortly after four o'clock on a well being check to an address here on Red Head road, upon entering the building we heard what we thought was a shot," Parks said.

"We contained the scene until the Emergency Tactical Service arrived. They entered the building and we have two dead now, one male, one female."

Multiple police cruisers, two tactical units and an ambulance responded to the home.

The road, which was blocked to traffic for about two hours, has been re-opened.

Neighbour Philip Doiron says it's a quiet community.

"It kind of hits close to home, I don't really know what happened, I'm blind sided to come up with words," he said.

Doiron says the woman worked at a local gas station.

"Whether this happened last night to her, I don't know, she didn't show up for work," he said.

Parks would not comment on relationship of the two and did not identify them.
