Two men are facing second-degree murder charges after a homicide Friday about 12 kilometres north of Edmundston, RCMP say.

Bruce Dufour, 37, of Edmundston, was arrested in Saint-Léonard early Saturday. Later in the day, police arrested Tony Dufour, 36, of Saint-Jacques, according to a news release.

RCMP said police responded to a call from a business on 2nd Sault Road in Saint-Joseph-de-Madawaska on Friday night. The report was for an assault with a weapon.

On reaching the scene at about 11:45 p.m., RCMP found a 29-year-old man outside the business with "significant injuries." He died at the scene.

Bruce Dufour and Tony Dufour appeared in Edmundston provincial court by tele-remand and were charged with second-degree murder. They were remanded into custody, police said.

Both were scheduled to appear in court again on Monday. An investigation led by the RCMP's major crime unit is underway.
