No pride

Prince George City Council has voted against signing a gay pride proclamation. The GALA North Social Support Society had asked the city to declare September 1-3 as Pride Days.

This is the first time the organizers have been turned down in the northern B.C. community.

The Society says it's saddened by the city's decision. Gay pride celebrations will still go ahead this weekend, despite the lack of civic support.

Several other Interior cities have also refused to issue gay pride proclamations this year, including Terrace, Fort St. John ane Kelowna.
