More than 210K Nova Scotians voted in advance polls over Easter weekend

Preliminary estimates from Elections Canada show 210,030 eligible Nova Scotians voted in advance polls for the federal election — a 31 per cent increase in early ballots compared to the 2021 federal election.

Preliminary estimates from Elections Canada show 210,030 eligible Nova Scotians voted in advance polls for the federal election.

That represents a 31 per cent increase in early ballots compared to the 44th federal election in 2021, when 160,179 Nova Scotians cast early votes.

On Tuesday, Elections Canada said more than seven million people nationally voted over the long weekend — the highest number ever in advance polls.

Twenty-six per cent of eligible voters in Nova Scotia have cast a ballot already.

Election day in Canada is April 28.
