66-year-old pedestrian killed by police vehicle in North Sydney

Cape Breton Regional Police say an officer was moving a marked vehicle to make room for an ambulance when it hit a pedestrian. Police were responding to reports a two-year-old child fell out of a window.

The Serious Incident Response Team is investigating after a 66-year-old man was struck and killed by a police vehicle in North Sydney, Nova Scotia.

The incident happened on Perry Street this afternoon.

Police were responding to reports that a two-year-old child fell out of a window. The child was taken to hospital with what appear to be minor injuries.

Cape Breton Regional Police say an officer was moving the marked vehicle to make room for the ambulance when it hit the 66-year-old-man. 

The man died at the scene.
