Anthony Bourdain in Wolfville for Devour! Food Film Fest
Bourdain would like to bring one of his shows here to examine the donair
Celebrity chef, writer and world-travelling TV host Anthony Bourdain is in the Annapolis Valley as part of a festival celebrating cinema, food and wine culture.
Devour! The Food Film Fest began Wednesday in Wolfville and runs until Sunday.
This is Bourdain’s first time in Nova Scotia.
"Bought a lot of products from here as a chef," he said, pointing specifically to seafood, singling out mussels and oysters.
Bourdain is currently the host of CNN's Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown and is a judge on ABC's The Taste, as well as Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations and The Layover on the Travel Channel.
Bourdain is also a New York Times bestselling author whose book Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly propelled him to international stardom.
Bourdain expressed an interest in shooting an episode of one of his shows in Nova Scotia. The top food on his list to examine would be the — you guessed it — the donair.
"When we do a show in this area, that will probably be the first thing we go looking for," he said.
"Whatever your version of the New York dirty water hot dog or whatever mutant sort of street food guilty pleasure, that's exactly what we always look for on our show."
