A 29-year-old man who survived a shooting in Bedford, N.S., on Sunday is facing weapons charges, say Halifax Regional Police.

Police were called to a shooting at a home in Bedford at 5:24 a.m. on Sunday. They found the victim, who was taken to the QEII Health Sciences Centre, treated and released Sunday afternoon.

Police say as part of the investigation, they got a search warrant for the victim's home on Redden Court where they found evidence he had been shot in the home.

Police also found an "unsecured" firearm, meaning the weapon was not safely stored. In addition to the gun, police found cash and drug paraphernalia.

No suspects in the shooting itself have been arrested.

Halifax Regional Police Const. Phil Power said there's no evidence the Bedford shooting and the Shakur Oshay Trevez Jefferies homicide on Saturday are connected.

"We do not believe at this point in time they are connected, we do believe they are two separate incidents," said Power.
