When the party is over and you are cleaning up this holiday season, a group of Cape Bretoners wants you to remember them.

The Breton Ability Centre will gladly accept your empties for its new community recycling initiative.

Brian Dipersio, 46, is from Charlottetown, P.E.I., but now lives at this residential home in Cape Breton.

The Breton Ability Centre recently put a collection bin near the road and people have been dropping off their recyclables.

"We wash them, we count them, we tag them, and then we take them to the recycling depot," said Dipersio.

"It’s an ongoing thing, it doesn't end."

David Farmer, director of the centre, says he’s not sure how much glass and plastic has come through, or how much money they've made.

But he says it is obviously worthwhile.

"It creates work, and it keeps people busy and folks enjoy it."

Profits help pay for outings and events for the residents.

The group hopes the leftovers from your party will help pay for theirs.
