Canada Post mailboxes in Halifax targeted by thieves

Thieves have broken into seven Canada Post mailboxes and stolen items over the last week, Halifax RCMP said on Thursday.

Thieves have broken into seven Canada Post mailboxes and stolen items over the last week, Halifax RCMP said on Thursday.

Cpl. Greg Church said Canada Post told them about the thefts. 

"Culprit(s) used vice grips to pull the tumbler mechanism out of the locks to gain entry into each of the mailboxes. Once inside the mailboxes, culprit(s) stole parcels that had recently arrived," Church said in an email.

The mailboxes hit were at:

  • Waterstone Run at Lucasville Road.
  • Bryston Road at Lucasville Road.
  • Millstone Court at Waterstone Run
  • 1400 Lucasville Road.

Halifax Regional Police are investigating similar thefts, including four incidents on Ketch Harbour Road and one in Bedford.
