RCMP in Cape Breton are asking anyone with photos or video of the fire at the Inverary Resort in Baddeck, N.S., to submit them to help investigators figure out how it started.

Cpl. Gavin Naime said they want to see every possible angle of the fire.

"Especially in a fire that destroyed an entire building and rocked the community, we want to make sure that we capture those early details. Where did it start? Was it the front or the back? We can only tell those details from the early photos and videos," he told reporters Friday afternoon.

RCMP said police are particularly interested in any media gathered between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m.

No clue too blurry

But Naime said it doesn't matter if someone thinks their photos or videos are useless or from later in the fire.

"Between us and the fire investigators, we might be able to find something in those pictures that is evidentiary for us."

He said they're not treating it as suspicious based on what they know now.

The blaze broke out around 2 a.m. on Thursday and quickly destroyed the resort's main building, which included the front desk, offices, some guest rooms and the restaurant and pub. No one was injured in the fire.

Anyone with photos or videos is asked to email them to Naime at Gavin.Naime@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

The RCMP are working with the office of the province's fire marshal and the investigation continues.

Officials with the resort have said it remains operational and staff will attempt to facilitate all scheduled events for the season.
