Makin' Waves offers free concerts in Sydney - up next Tim Baker and Basia Bulat on Aug. 4
Curated series extends warm “Welcome Home to Live Music” this summer
Over five Thursdays, from July 7 to Aug. 4, Wentworth Park comes alive at 6 p.m. with music, food trucks, vendors and community, for an atmosphere unique to the concert series.
Headliners over the five weeks include one of Cape Breton's hottest songwriters Dave Sampson, Newfoundland songwriter Tim Baker (formerly of Hey Rosetta!), award-winning Canadian soprano and multi-stylist Measha Brueggergosman, three time Polaris Prize nominee Basia Bulat, Canadian Songwriting Hall of Fame inductee Lennie Gallant, and New York City world music group Red Baraat.
Also performing at Makin' Waves will be two-time 2022 ECMA winner Morgan Toney, renowned jazz artist and host of CBC Radio's Saturday Night Jazz Laila Biali, Florida blues and "sacred steel" ensemble The Lee Boys, and the soaring voice of Island Girls and the soundtrack to our COVID lockdown's "Garbage Night Sessions" Jenn Sheppard.
