Chester junior women's curling team heads to finals against U.S. team
Skip Mary Fay and her rink beat Hungary 9-4 in a semifinal playoff match Saturday afternoon
Canada's junior women's curling team from Chester will face off in the finals against the American team Sunday, after a setback earlier Saturday at the world championships in Denmark.
Skip Mary Fay and her rink beat Hungary 9-4 in a semifinal playoff match Saturday afternoon.
Earlier that day, the team fell 8-7 to the U.S. team, their first loss in a playoff match at the tournament.
A win against the U.S. would have meant going straight to the finals.
The 17-year-old and her rink went into the playoffs in a very good position. They were 9-0 in the round robins
Their trip to the world championships comes after Fay led her rink to the Canadian Junior Women's Curling title at the end of January.
Fay along with third Kristin Clarke, second Karlee Burgess, lead Janique LeBlanc and coach Andrew Atherton have been competing in Denmark for a week.
