Dalhousie University seeks new dentistry dean
Dr. Thomas Boran steps down from his post June 2017
Dalhousie University is in the process of finding a new dean for its dentistry school.
Dr. Thomas Boran, who has held the position since July 2008, is stepping down from the job in June 2017.
In an email Tuesday to the Dalhousie community, university provost Carolyn Watters thanked Boran for the work he did during his tenure, including implementing outreach and access-to-care programs in Labrador and the North End Community Health Centre in Halifax.
Boran was also at the helm of the dentistry school during the Facebook scandal that erupted in late 2014. A later report found the faculty of dentistry had permitted a culture of "sexism, misogyny, homophobia and racism."
He made $208,088 in 2014-2015, according to compensation disclosure records.
