Farley Mowat owner begins removing rusting vessel

A court ordered the vessel be removed by April 8.

The ship's owner has been ordered to remove the ship by April 8

Contractors are working on the removal of the rusting hulk of a ship once used by the environmental group, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

The MV Farley Mowat was seized at gunpoint by the RCMP seven years ago.

It is now in Shelburne, N.S. where town officials have been fighting for months to have the 54-metre vessel removed.

The owner of the ship, scrap dealer Tracy Dodds, has until April 8 to remove it — and it appears contractors are trying to get the job done.
