Halifax airport travellers to encounter delays today

Anyone travelling out of the Halifax Stanfield International Airport on Sunday should expect delays.

Be sure to allow for extra time when flying out of the airport

Anyone travelling out of the Halifax Stanfield International Airport on Sunday should expect delays.

“Give yourself extra time. Travel to the airport will be slower this morning and through the day. Lineups at check in and pre-board screening will be a little longer than normal,” cautioned airport spokesperson Peter Spurway.

An Air Canada plane travelling from Toronto to Halifax crashed in the early hours of Sunday morning, sending about two dozen people with minor injuries to hospital.

Several early morning flights at the airport were cancelled — some because of the weather — but flight operations have resumed because the airport is using a secondary runway.

Spurway suggests that anyone travelling today check directly with their airline for the status of their flight, as the airport's website isn't updating properly.
