Halifax's first scheduled cruise call for this year has been cancelled due to expected bad weather this weekend.

The Regal Princess, a vessel operated by Princess Cruises, was to arrive in Halifax on Sunday morning. There's a storm developing in the Atlantic Ocean, so the stop in Halifax has been called off.

This delays the start of the cruise season by a week and a half. The first cruise call of the season will now be the Amadea, operated by Phoenix Reisen, and it's scheduled to arrive April 27.

Last year, the first cruise ship docked in Halifax on May 4.
