All Halifax Transit bus services have safely resumed operations after a pause in service for a select number of buses earlier on Thursday.

The municipality said in a news release that all "potentially impacted buses" have been cleared to resume service. The municipality previously said 44 buses were impacted and taken out of service "out of an abundance of caution."

Halifax Transit suspended service on dozens of buses Thursday because of what it called a "potential mechanical issue."

It said a wheel came off a Halifax Transit bus while it was in service, and an investigation had found this was due to "faulty equipment used to torque the wheels."
