HMCS Windsor is returning to Halifax port tomorrow after participating in military exercises overseas, according to a Department of National Defence statement released Wednesday.

The submarine departed Halifax in the fall along with five surface ships, the Athabaskan, Halifax, Montréal, Goose Bay and Summerside.

Windsor had been taking part in Joint Warrior and Trident Juncture — co-ordinated exercises with NATO allies to "enhance combat readiness" by training in "complex security scenarios."

The 48-member crew will be welcomed by family and friends when it docks at 1:30 p.m. at Jetty NC, located at the navy's Halifax dockyard.

HMCS Montréal returned from training last month.
