Halifax Regional Police have charged a 23-year-old man with second-degree murder in the death of Tyler Michael Boyd Algee.

Police say they were called to respond to a report of gunshots at the Dartmouth waterfront on Alderney Drive at about 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital, where he later died.

An autopsy was conducted Thursday and police have deemed Algee's death a homicide.

When police got to the waterfront on Wednesday, they arrested three people in the area. One of them, Justin Ronald Adams-Clarke, 23, of Elmsdale, was charged Thursday night with second-degree murder and possession of a weapon while prohibited.

The other two people who were arrested were released Thursday without charges.

Police said in a news release they do not believe the shooting was a random incident, and they are not looking for more suspects.
