Meat robbery at Halifax Sobeys goes bad
Witness followed the suspects and led police to them
Two men stole a couple hundred dollars worth of meat products from the Sobeys store at 279 Herring Cove Rd. on Saturday morning, according to Halifax Regional Police.
The men tried to make off with the meat around 11:20 a.m.
When confronted by staff at the store, one of the men took out a knife and threatened the worker. The men then left the store and drove away.
No one was injured.
A witness contacted police and followed the men. A short time later, police stopped the suspects' vehicle on Hartlen Ave.
The two men were arrested without incident and the stolen meat was recovered.
A 23-year-old man from Halifax will appear in court on Monday to face several charges including robbery, theft, possessing property obtained by crime, and a weapons offences.
A 22-year-old man from Bedford is scheduled to appear in court at a later date charged with theft and possession of property obtained by crime.
