Court case for woman charged in stabbing of child delayed until next month
Elliott Chorny is charged with attempted murder and weapons offences

A woman charged in the stabbing of a child on a downtown Halifax street must wait a while longer to learn her fate.
Elliott Chorny, 19, is charged with attempted murder and weapons offences in relation to an incident on Feb. 23.
During a court appearance in March, Nova Scotia Provincial Court Judge Alonzo Wright ordered Chorny to undergo a 30-day psychiatric assessment, to see if she should be held criminally responsible for the attack.
During a court appearance in Halifax on Friday, Chorny's lawyer, Kelly Rowlett, said she only received the report from the psychiatrist at 5:15 p.m. Thursday. Rowlett said she didn't have time to discuss the report with her client, who's being held at the East Coast Forensic Hospital in Dartmouth, the only secure mental health facility in the province.
Wright agreed to put the matter over until June 13.
While the judge and lawyers were discussing her case, Chorny, who was appearing by video, slipped out of sight of the camera. She did not answer repeated calls for her to reappear.
Wright ordered Chorny to appear in person for the June court date.
