Suspended Halifax lawyer Lyle Howe was back in court Tuesday to learn when he will be sentenced for sexually assaulting a woman.

The Crown asked the court to give him federal time, which would amount to between two and ten years. Howe will be sentenced July 30.

Howe, a prominent Halifax defence lawyer, was convicted May 31 of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman.

The charges were laid after an incident on March 20, 2011, involving a 19-year-old woman. She accused Howe of drugging and sexually assaulting her.

Howe was found not guilty of administering a stupefying drug.

Howe has also been suspended from practising law.
