Mourners remember hockey player Jordan Boyd
Family and friends of Jordan Boyd gathered at a Halifax church Saturday to remember the 16-year-old hockey player who died earlier this week.
Boyd's funeral was held at St. Agnes Parish on Mumford Road. Mourners sported team jerseys to honour their friend.
The Bedford teen collapsed during a rookie camp in New Brunswick on Aug. 12. He was practising with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Titan officials said Boyd passed a full medical evaluation before the camp.
On Wednesday, Sylvain Couturier, general manager of the Titan, said Boyd collapsed suddenly while waiting to do a drill that involved skating with a puck.
Results from an autopsy on the cause of death have not been released.
Boyd played for the Rothesay Netherwood School hockey team in New Brunswick last year. He was named the team's best 15-year-old.
