NSCAD prof Gene Daniels sentenced to probation for voyeurism
Associate professor still faces 14 other counts related to 14 different women
An associate professor at NSCAD University has been sentenced to 12 months probation and 60 hours of community service for one count of voyeurism.
Eugene Richard Daniels, 49, was sentenced last week. He was found guilty in December.
The offence happened in July 2014, when he invited a former student to visit a gallery he operated on Cunard Street in Halifax.
While using the bathroom, the 31-year-old woman noticed she was being recorded. The woman left the gallery and reported the incident to police.
Daniels's probation includes the provision that he stay away from public washrooms that women might frequent.
Daniels is facing 14 additional voyeurism charges related to 14 different women. He's to enter pleas on those charges next week.
NSCAD University said Daniels, an associate professor of foundation studies, was placed on unpaid leave as soon as the school's administration became aware of the first charge.
