Halifax crews still dealing with snow and ice on roads

More overnight parking ban tickets have already been issued this winter in the Halifax region than all of the last winter as crews try to clear snow and ice-clogged streets.

The parking ban has been in force 18 times this winter, four more times than last winter.

Fines are piling up, too. This winter, 5,614 tickets have been issued and 39 vehicles towed, according to the latest numbers from the city; just 3,346 tickets were issued and 33 vehicles towed last winter.

Crews have also started erecting temporary no parking signs to help with clearing efforts.

The city has also warned that vehicles can be ticketed if they are parked in such a way that interferes with plows, regardless of the time of day or night.
