Pictou County couple wins $5M in Lotto 6/49 draw
Wayne Munro and Jill Clausson-Munro celebrating with new truck, no more housecleaning
Wayne Munro and Jill Clausson-Munro have been using the same lotto numbers for 39 years — and they've finally paid off.
The Kings Head, N.S., couple won $5 million in last Saturday's Lotto 6/49 draw.
"He was watching sports when he checked our numbers and he just ran into the bedroom where I was and he yelled, 'We won!'" said Clausson-Munro, a health-care worker at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow.
"He knew right away when he looked at the numbers."
Their lucky numbers have special meaning for their respective families and they say they will continue to play.
Wayne Munro is a longtime car salesman and has already made a big purchase.
"I got a GMC Sierra SLT and she's loaded to the gunnels," said Munro, who has been selling GM vehicles for 36 years. "I've sold tons of them, so I kind of knew what I wanted to get."
The couple say they will keep their jobs for a short while but not for long.
One thing is certain, housecleaning will now be done by someone else.
"That was the first thing I thought of, is that I do not ever have to clean my freaking house again," said Clausson-Munro.
The winning Lotto 6/49 ticket was purchased at Sobeys in New Glasgow. The retailer will receive a one per cent seller's prize.
