Man arrested after weapons complaint in Spryfield

Forbes Street in the Halifax neighbourhood of Spryfield has reopened after a weapons complaint was made Tuesday to Halifax Regional Police.

A man has been arrested and Forbes Street in the Halifax neighbourhood of Spryfield has reopened after a weapons complaint was made Tuesday to Halifax Regional Police.

Police were called to the apartment building at about 4 p.m. after receiving a call that a woman had been assaulted and that a firearm may have been involved.

When police arrived, according to a news release, they found the woman. She was taken to hospital and is expected to survive her injuries.

Police parked in front of 7 Forbes Street and evacuated an apartment building where the suspect was believed to have been inside.

By 9 p.m., police said the man was arrested on assault and weapons charges.
